1. Introduction
Discovrd is a community-driven platform built on trust, quality, and respectful interaction. These Community Guidelines establish standards for user-generated content, reviews, server/bot submissions, and participation on our platform.
By using Discovrd, you agree to follow these guidelines in addition to our Terms of Service. Violations may result in content removal, account warnings, or permanent bans.
2. Core Principles
- Be Honest: Provide truthful, accurate information in reviews, submissions, and reports
- Be Respectful: Treat server owners, bot developers, and other users with respect
- Be Constructive: Offer helpful feedback, not personal attacks
- Be Responsible: Understand the impact of your content and behavior
3. Acceptable Content Standards
3.1 Reviews & Ratings
DO:
- Base reviews on your genuine experience
- Provide specific, helpful feedback
- Update reviews if your experience changes
- Mention both positives and areas for improvement
- Use appropriate language for the platform's audience
DON'T:
- Post fake reviews or rate-bomb servers/bots
- Review servers you haven't joined or bots you haven't used
- Coordinate review campaigns (positive or negative)
- Include personal information (yours or others')
- Use reviews to settle personal disputes
- Copy reviews from other platforms
3.2 Server & Bot Submissions
DO:
- Ensure you own or have permission to list the server/bot
- Provide accurate descriptions, categories, and contact info
- Use appropriate content ratings (EVERYONE, TEEN, MATURE, ADULT)
- Update listings when servers/bots change significantly
- Use high-quality, relevant images (icons, banners, screenshots)
DON'T:
- Submit servers/bots you don't own without permission
- Use misleading descriptions or clickbait tactics
- Misrepresent content ratings (e.g., NSFW as EVERYONE)
- Submit duplicate listings for the same server/bot
- Include external links in descriptions (except official websites)
- Use copyrighted images without permission
4. Prohibited Content
The following content is strictly prohibited on Discovrd:
- Illegal content: Anything illegal in Canada, US, or EU (piracy, drugs, weapons, etc.)
- Hate speech: Content that attacks, threatens, or demeans based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar
- Harassment & bullying: Targeting individuals or groups with abuse, doxxing, or coordinated attacks
- Explicit sexual content: Pornography, sexual services, or inappropriate imagery (even in ADULT listings)
- Violence & gore: Graphic depictions of violence, self-harm, or animal cruelty
- Spam & scams: Phishing, pyramid schemes, malicious links, or deceptive practices
- Malware & exploits: Bots or links that distribute malware, viruses, or Discord exploits
- Impersonation: Pretending to be Discord, Discovrd, other platforms, or individuals
- Copyright infringement: Using copyrighted materials without permission
- Manipulation: Vote manipulation, fake reviews, bot traffic, or algorithmic gaming
5. Content Rating Expectations
Server owners must accurately rate their content:
EVERYONE (All Ages)
Family-friendly, no profanity, suitable for children. G/PG equivalent.
TEEN (13+)
Mild language, mature themes appropriate for teenagers. PG-13 equivalent.
MATURE (16+)
Strong language, mature discussions, some dark themes. R equivalent (non-sexual).
ADULT (18+)
NSFW content, explicit language, adult themes. Note: Pornographic content is prohibited even in ADULT ratings.
Misrepresenting content ratings to attract users (especially children) is a serious violation and may result in immediate removal and ban.
6. Reporting Violations
6.1 How to Report
If you encounter content that violates these guidelines:
- Use the "Report" button on any listing, review, or content
- Select the appropriate violation category
- Provide specific details about the violation
- Include screenshots or evidence if helpful
6.2 What Happens After You Report
Our moderation process (balanced approach):
- Review: We aim to review reports within 48-72 hours
- Investigation: We examine the reported content and context
- Decision: We determine if guidelines were violated
- Action: We take appropriate action (warning, removal, ban)
- Communication: We notify the reporter and content owner of the outcome
Note: We review each report individually. High report volume doesn't automatically result in removal. False or malicious reports may result in penalties for the reporter.
7. Moderation Actions
7.1 Enforcement Levels
Violations are handled with proportional responses:
Warning
First-time minor violations (inappropriate language, unclear descriptions)
Content Removal
Reviews, listings, or comments that violate guidelines
Temporary Suspension
Repeated violations or moderate infractions (7-30 days)
Permanent Ban
Severe violations (illegal content, harassment), repeated suspensions, ban evasion
7.2 Review Moderation Workflow
All user-submitted reviews go through a moderation workflow with three possible statuses:
PENDING
Review is awaiting moderation. Not publicly visible yet. Reviews are typically reviewed within 48-72 hours.
APPROVED
Review passed moderation and is now publicly visible on the server/bot listing.
REJECTED
Review violated guidelines and was rejected. You'll receive an email notification with the reason for rejection.
What happens to rejected reviews: Rejected reviews are soft-deleted (hidden from public view but retained for 90 days for appeals). You can appeal the decision within this period.
7.3 Appeals
If you believe a moderation decision was made in error (review rejection, content removal, etc.):
- Submit an appeal via our contact form within 90 days of the moderation action
- Include your username, the content in question, and a detailed explanation of why you believe the decision was wrong
- We'll review appeals within 5-7 business days
- Appeal outcomes will be communicated via email
- Moderation decisions after appeal are final
Important: After 90 days, soft-deleted content may be permanently removed and cannot be recovered. Submit appeals promptly if you believe moderation was in error.
8. Best Practices
8.1 For Reviewers
- Give servers/bots a fair chance before reviewing (spend at least a day)
- Focus on features, community, moderation quality, not personal conflicts
- Be specific ("Slow bot response times" vs "This bot sucks")
- Respect server cultures and rules even if they're not your preference
8.2 For Server Owners/Bot Developers
- Respond professionally to negative reviews (don't argue or harass)
- Keep listing information current (update member counts, features)
- Don't ask users to leave positive reviews or report competitors
- Use the appeal process if you believe a review is fake or malicious
8.3 For All Users
- Use the reporting system responsibly (don't report just because you disagree)
- Respect that Discovrd is separate from Discord servers/bots (we're just a directory)
- Understand moderation decisions are made by humans and may take time
9. Changes to Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines as our platform evolves and new moderation needs arise. Material changes will be announced via platform notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
